Bible Readings for October 29th-November 4th, 2012

Genesis 31:17-43:34; Matthew 10:24-14:12; Psalms 13:1-18:36; Proverbs 3:16-4:10 After these very disturbing few days and viewing on our T.V. the megastorm of Sally's destruction, we seek rest in Jesus as we pray for those who are suffering from this disaster to find hope and rest in Him. There may be so many deep concerns in our own lives and in the lives of our friends, we find it overwhelming at times. This week, let's search the scriptures to help us grow in Him, rest in Him and find strength in His Word.

  1. Matthew 11:28 Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest." (Common English Bible) There is so much comfort in being reminded that Jesus invites us to come to Him for rest and salvation. The need is for us to call on Him always, in all circumstances. I'm reminded of Psalm 34:8 which says, "Taste and see how good the Lord is! The one who takes refuge in Him is truly happy."
My friend had surgery today on her baby, Parker (still in the womb and who has Spina Bifita)). Mommy and baby are came through fine. The mother, Nikki is a person of great strength in God and one who is truly happy in the Lord as is seen in her radiant smile each day. Pray that she and Parker continue to gain strength during this period. We can all find strength in the Lord because of His open invitation that He gives so very freely.
